Report of the Crescent Beach Sweep held June 9th, 2001.
There were 41 participants including the Petite Guides who picked up 11 bags full of garbage plus numerous items too big for bags.
The break down of garbage is as follows:
I have reported that plastic is still the worst problem, that the most un usual things were 50 feet of MTT wrapping wire, 8 paint cans with a brush, and a brand new T-Shirt with an environmental logo of some sort. More specifics are attached to the copy of the data card sent to Clean Nova Scotia.
We had advertising in The Bulletin, EastLink Cable station, and CKBW. We received donations from Sobeys, SaveEasy, Superstore, Tim Horton's, as well as Gow's Home Hardware which donated a Thermos Cooler, which we will auction off at the Annual Meeting as a fund raiser.
I have written thank-you's to everyone and sent a message via email to Susan Corkum Greek. A photo should be in the Bulletin this week so maybe the totals will be reported as well.
